Police in Gujarat have booked three persons for allegedly dragging a 16-year-old tribal girl inside a luxury bus parked in an upscale locality of Vadodara and raping her.
The incident took place late on the evening of January 2 in the city’s New VIP Road area. The three accused accosted the girl and forced her into the luxury bus, which was parked by the roadside. The main accused, a juvenile, then raped the girl, while his two accomplices kept watch outside.
“The 16-year-old victim from a tribal community was dragged into a parked bus by the main accused, who is a minor, and his two accomplices, around 8 pm on January 2,” an official at Harni police station told PTI.
After raping the minor, the main accused threatened her with grave consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Shortly afterwards, the survivor returned to her native place in Madhya Pradesh. However, a complaint was lodged after the girl’s uncle got to know about her ordeal and approached the police.
A case was registered under IPC sections 376 (rape), 354 (A) (sexual harassment), 506 (2) (criminal intimidation), 114 (abettor present when the offence is committed), and relevant sections of POCSO Act.
