Another case of vandalism of idol in Comilla

Dhaka Tribune: Six cases have been filed in three police stations for vandalism and attack on idols in Comilla’s Sadar Dakshin, Daudkandi and the city.

On Friday (October 15), miscreants broke into the Biharmandal Kali Mandir under construction at Biharmandal village in Comilla’s Debidwar Upazila’s Mahinpur Union and vandalized the idol.

Another case has been filed in Comilla for vandalizing an idol after entering the temple. So far, nine cases have been filed in connection with the attack on temples and vandalism of idols in Sadar Dakshin, Daudkandi and Debiddhar upazilas of the district.

On Friday (October 15), miscreants broke into the Biharmandal Kali Mandir under construction at Biharmandal village in Comilla’s Debidwar Upazila’s Mahinpur Union and vandalized the idol. A new case was filed on Wednesday accusing unknown persons of the incident. A person named Narayan Pal belonging to the temple filed the case as a plaintiff.

Earlier, a man named Gouranga Bhumik filed a vandalism case with Comilla Daudkandi Police Station in connection with the vandalism of the idol. Earlier, Comilla Kotwali and Dakshin Thana police filed six cases against the temple for vandalizing the idol. Besides, RAB’s DAD filed a case with Comilla Kotwali Police Station after arresting a man named Golam Mawla on charges of spreading through social media.

Meanwhile, local Awami League leader Abdul Gafur in Biharmandal village said about the vandalism of the idol in Debiddhar, the miscreants entered the Kali temple under construction at some point on the last night of the Durgotsab and vandalized the idol. Upon receiving the news in the morning, Debidwar Upazila administration visited the spot.

Debidwar Police Station OC Arifur Rahman said, “On the night of the tenth day of Durgotsab, miscreants entered a temple without windows and doors and vandalized the idol. The next morning I found out about the matter and visited with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. A man named Narayan Pal has filed a case against the unidentified accused in the incident. After investigating the matter, the police are in the field to arrest the accused. ”
