NAWADA: Five minor boys and a youth gang-raped a 14-year-old girl on the banks of a river under Govindpur police station area in Nawada district on Saturday evening. All the six accused were arrested within 24 hours of committing the crime.
Govindpur police station SHO Narendra Prasad said the girl was returning to her village after purchasing household materials from Govindpur market. Six persons, including 5 minor boys, waylaid her and dragged the victim behind a bush on the banks of river Sakri and gang-raped her.
The girl informed her parents, who lodged an FIR with local police the same evening. The police referred the girl to the Sadar hospital for medical examination. Her statement would be recorded under 164 CrPC before a judicial magistrate. All the six accused were nabbed by Sunday, he added.
