Gonda A Dalit family has sat on a hunger strike in the Collectorate premises in protest against the forced occupation of land by land mafia. Laxman Prasad son Swa Sahebdin, a resident of Bairagi Purwa in Sadar region, says that the land mafia is beating his intention to capture Gatte lands.

The Yogi government of the state is constantly clamping down on the land mafia and the government is under the whip on their illegal construction, but in Gonda district the exact opposite situation remains. The issue of illegal land grab by land mafias keeps on coming. The latest case is of Rajpur in village Bairagipurwa of Sadar area where a Dalit man is alleged by the so-called land mafia to first occupy the pond next to his Gata number and then his land. In the complaint letter given to the top officials, the victim has forcibly taken possession of his land and has also made several other serious allegations against the land mafia. Due to non-action, the angry person has also been warned to sit on hunger strike in the Collectorate premises.
