In the case of the murder of a Dalit woman in Puranpur, the people of the Dalit community staged a dharna at the Collectorate Tirahe. There was a heated argument with the City Magistrate and CO City who arrived on the information. After about an hour, he submitted a memorandum to the city magistrate demanding action. In which a demand was made to build a police post in the village, compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the relatives of the deceased.

Three days ago, 35-year-old Sheela Devi’s wife Indrajit, resident of Pipariya Jaibhadra of Puranpur Kotwali area, was shot dead at home. The incident was carried out by Kapil Pandey of the village with his companions. In this case, the relatives allege that on May 13, a case was registered against the accused in Puranpur Kotwali under SCST Act and other sections. Which was being discussed by CO Bisalpur. Even after registering the case, the police did not arrest the accused. However, on the second day of the incident, Puranpur police arrested the main accused Kapil Pandey and sent him to jail. In this case, people belonging to the Dalit community sat on a dharna at the Collectorate Tirahe from 3 pm on Tuesday under the banner of Bahujan Mukti Morcha. On the information of the dharna, City Magistrate Arun Kumar Singh, CO City Virendra Vikram, Inspector Kotwali Atar Singh, Inspector Sungarhi Shrikant Dwivedi arrived with the force. The officers objected to the picketing due to the implementation of Kovid guidelines and Section 144. After a long argument, the dharna was ended by giving a memorandum to the city magistrate. The memorandum demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation to the victim’s family, action against Puranpur Kotwal, job to a member of the family, opening of a police post in the village and arrest of the accused.
