Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu): A video of a Dalit student thrashing and kicking a Dalit student by his hair in front of classmates in a government school classroom is going viral on social media. The teacher accused in the case has been arrested and has been charged under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. This case is from Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.
In the 28-second video going viral, it is clearly visible that 56-year-old teacher Subramaniam is beating a 17-year-old student by the hair. In the video, the teacher is also seen kicking the student. The student is sitting on the ground on his knees. It is seen in the video that the student is pleading and crying in front of the teacher.
A 17-year-old student of Government Nandanar Boys Higher Secondary School at Chidambaram in the district has been injured in the beating. He has been admitted to the nearest government hospital. The student has lodged a complaint with the police and has produced video evidence of the assault.
