A fish trader was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Jashore’s Abhaynagar upazila around 8:00am yesterday.
Two men shot Subrata Mondal, 45, near Damukhali Primary School and fled the scene on a motorcycle, said police, quoting locals.
He might have been killed by “extremists”, said AK Shamim, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar Police Station.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added.
The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately, the OC said.
