Gurugram: Held captive for 9 days, Dalit woman repeatedly gang-raped by four men at gunpoint


Gurugram: In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old Dalit woman was gang-raped allegedly by four men after keeping her hostage for nearly nine days. The incident took place at a village near Sohna in Gurugram district of Haryana.

Police have now booked the four accused in connection with the crime. The victim alleged that she was sedated during most of her captivity period and raped.

Police said the accused were know to the victim as they hailed from her village. The accused also shot videos of the crime to blackmail the woman not to reveal the crime to anyone, according to a report in Hindustan Times.

The victim was abandoned on Ballabhgarh bus stand on July 8. She later contacted her husband and narrated her ordeal.

The accused have been booked under sections 201 (destruction of evidence), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 365 (kidnapping), 376 D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at the Sohna police station. Sections of the Arms Act have also been invoked against the accused.

The accused kidnapped the woman from a temple on the outskirts of the village. The victim was talking to a person known to her when two of his friends arrived on the scene and invited her for a ride to Faridabad.

In her complaint to police, the woman stated that she was taken to a room where there was no cooler or fan. “There were four mattresses and few liquor bottles were lying here and there. Next morning a man from our village also visited the room. Everyone raped me one by one,” the victim alleged. The accused also disposed of the clothes of teh victim so that no evidence remains against them.
