Morena News: After the death of a Dalit man in Morena, the last rites were not being performed due to the absence of a cremation ground. Gulzari Lal Sakhbar’s last rites became possible after a villager donated a land.

Morena News: After the death of the Dalit man, the last rites were not being performed due to the absence of a crematorium. For the last 40 years, people had been performing last rites on their private agricultural land, outside their homes and in barns. When the villagers as well as the social workers came to know about it, people gathered in the village. There was also pressure on the administration-police and rural development department to select the land for the government crematorium. Here a person from the village donated a vishwa land for the crematorium. Then the last rites of 60-year-old Gulzari Lal Sakhbar were performed.

Due to lack of own land, the body was kept outside the house overnight

The matter is of Kherli, Gram Panchayat under Porsa Janpad Panchayat of Morena. There is a population of 60 houses of Dalit community in Sadupura Majra. The crematoriums built in two villages including Kherli of Gram Panchayat are located at a distance of two kilometers from this settlement. Gulzarilal Sakhbar died due to illness in the early hours of this morning. Due to lack of land of his own, the dead body was kept outside the house since night.

No effort was made for the construction of the crematorium in 7 years

Now the revenue officials are saying that the last rites have been performed on the land donated by the villagers. The husband of the female sarpanch of the gram panchayat kept crying for not having government land. Villagers say that in the last 7 years no effort was made for the construction of the crematorium.
