A man in Uttar Pradesh has been booked for allegedly raping a 5-year-old Dalit girl.

Bijnor: A man in Uttar Pradesh allegedly raped his neighbour’s 5-year-old daughter on Tuesday. The accused allegedly sexually assaulted the girl after he found that she was alone at home. The incident took place under the limits of the Haldaur police station.
The survivor is a member of the Dalit community. The police said that the girl was sent for a medical exam after the incident. Reportedly, the girl was alone at home on Tuesday and her family members were busy with some work nearby.
Family members heard girl’s cries for help
Bijnor superintendent of police (SP) Dharamveer Singh said that the accused noticed the girl was alone and went to her house where he allegedly raped her. The girl raised an alarm after the incident and when her family members heard her screams, they rushed to the spot.
The accused, however, fled before the girl’s family could catch hold of him, The Times of India reported. After the incident, the girl’s family approached the police and lodged a complaint.
The accused has been booked under section 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 376 (punishment for rape) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
