Jalore Dalit child death: The family of the Class 3 Dalit student alleged that they were lathi-charged by the administration and were not allowed to wait for the relatives for the final rites of the boy.

Jalore: The family of 9-year-old Dalit student, who died after allegedly being brutally thrashed by his school teacher in Rajasthan’s Jalore, has made shocking revelation about the insensitive behaviour of the administration.
The deceased Dalit boy’s family has alleged that the state administration has forced them to perform quick funeral of the child and was not allowed to wait for the arrival of relatives.
The family also accused police of lathi-charge causing injuries to them. “We were injured after we were lathi-charged,” a report in NDTV quoted slain Dalit boy’s uncle as saying.
Meanwhile, the family also claimed they are made to fight a ‘lie’ by school authorities that the student was fighting with a classmate and was beaten as a result of this.
“The family said there was no fight between the students. It was all about the water pitcher (matka). The school authorities are under pressure from upper caste Thakurs. They are now claiming the deceased had previous ear injury which is a pure lie,” said Dalit student’s relative.
The boy’s parents said they took him to at least seven hospitals but couldn’t save his life. The family finally took him to Ahmedabad where he died on August 13.
The Class 3 Dalit boy was brutally thrashed by his teacher Chail Singh after he allegedly made the “mistake” of drinking from a pitcher meant for upper castes. Singh beat up the boy so badly that he was left with severe wounds in his eye and ear.
The accused teacher, Chail Singh (40) who belongs to the Rajput community was arrested on Saturday and booked on charges of murder and under sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
