Rishikesh: A 25-year-old inmate of a drug addiction rehabilitation centre in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh was alleged raped at the centre. The woman alleged that the horrific act with her was recorded and was used to blackmail her and force her into prostitution.
As per the TOI report, the drug addiction rehabilitation centre in Rishikesh is being operated by a woman based in Delhi.
Station house officer (SHO) of Rishikesh, Ravi Saini said that woman in her complaint alleged that a couple of weeks after she joined the centre, she was raped by the owner’s partner and the owner helped him in doing so.
“Both took photos and videos of the act. They then used the photos and videos to blackmail her and sent her outside the city for prostitution many times. The survivor further alleged that they threatened and beat her up whenever she refused to work with them,” the SHO told TOI.
Following the complaint by the victim, the rehabilitation centre has been shut and both accused have fled.
“We are trying to nab them. A case into the matter has been registered under sections 376 (punishment of rape), 328 (causing hurt using poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy) of the IPC,” informed SHP Saini.
Around a year ago, four teenage girls had fled from a private rehabilitation centre in Dehradun. They alleged that they were repeatedly raped by the staffers and punished when they refused to engage in sexual acts with them, reported TOI.
